Sustainability

At Cotswold Flora we create beautiful designs with sustainability at our core.

We are proud to grow as many flowers as possible which we harvest, dry and use in our designs. Where our flower growing fails, there have been many occasions, we try to source flowers from other British flower growers. All our flowers are air dried in our workshop, we hang them upside down in small bunches which allows the air to circulate and keeps the stems straight.

The moss used in our creations is collected responsibly from different areas on the farm, where it grows in abundance, on a rotational basis. The pinecones used for the nose of our Large Botanical Stags are collected from the ground below an ancient tree at my Grandparents home. The acorn cups and teasels are foraged on walks around the farm.

Cotswold Flora is proud to grow British flowers sustainably, causing as little damage to the environment as possible. We believe the flowers grown at Cotswold Flora are better quality and have a longer vase life than that of commercial flowers.

The floristry industry can have a negative impact on the environment due to sourcing flowers from hotter climates, transportation into other countries and the plastic packaging around every bunch which goes to landfill. The flower patch at Cotswold Flora HQ is planned, planted, maintained, harvested and dried by Poppy the dried flower artist behind the brand.

It is imperative that our everlasting flower stag heads arrive with you in one piece, we have worked hard to make sure our packaging is robust and eco-friendly. We strive to use only recyclable packaging with our Botanical Stags and have worked out how to achieve this without using plastic.

Our creations are so unique that they often spark conversations when someone sees one for the first time on the wall. We like to think that our Botanical Stags can act as a catalyst for conversations about sustainability and the many benefits of buying British flowers and from local Artisan producer-makers.
